Kamishibai Storytelling

This March Holiday, Simply English is excited to offer a 2-day Kamishibai Storytelling Workshop run by our own Juriah Atan, a professional storyteller with the with a basketload of tips and tricks in performance storytelling.

What is Kamishibai? Literally, it means “paper-theatre”. This traditional Japanese style of storytelling combines visual art and performance to bring stories to life.

Participants will:

  • Make their own mini-kamishibai stage
  • Create their own sotries
  • Present their creations

Simply English is proud to present a collaborative effort this March Holiday!

Speech and Drama

What are the transferable skills acquired?

This class is not JUST for future actors/actresses. Your child’s improvisation develops, grows, and evolves into adaptability and quick thinking, pivotal skills needed in tertiary education as well as your child’s future workplace.

Confidence and increased clarity of the language are universal skills needed to thrive in social environments like schools and workplaces. These seem like terms only heard in drama academies, but the added edge Speech & Drama lessons add to a child’s skillset will be very useful in the long run!

Why join this class? Teacher Aaron has this to say:

I pride myself as someone that prioritises fun, and excitement with learning in classes! It sounds like conflicting ideas but my lifelong dream is to use the engaging and creative nature of the arts to impart and teach knowledge to the young, even the acedemic subjects. And seeing that it will take place within the March Holidays, I want to give the students equal parts knowledge of transferrable skills and equal parts fun!

Hope to see you there!
